Murray: President's Budget Puts Forward a Strong Vision for All Students to Succeed

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement on the education proposals in President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2016 Budget.

“Ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education is one of the best investments our country can make, so I’m pleased that President Obama put forward a strong vision in his budget for helping all students succeed in and out of the classroom. I am hopeful that Republicans and Democrats can work together on priorities like expanding access to early childhood education, reducing the crushing burden of student debt, preventing sexual assault on campus, and rolling back some of the deep cuts to education investments set to kick in next year. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue, and over the coming weeks and months, I hope to work across the aisle to make sure all students have access to a high-quality and safe education, regardless of where they live, how they learn, or how much money their parents make.”
