Washington D.C. – U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-WY, Ranking Member of theSenate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP Committee), is takingto the road next week to draw attention to the nation’s health care crisis and the stepsCongress can take to wrangle health care costs in America. From March 17 through March 20, Enzi will cover more than 1,100 miles, stopping in 10 Wyoming towns, to discuss his health care reform bill, “10 Steps toTransform Health Care in America,” legislation that builds on numerous health careproposals to expand access to insurance and providers while improving the quality ofhealth care in the United States. “With 46.1 million Americans living without health insurance, we cannotcontinue to allow partisan politicking to stand in the way of real reform,” Enzi said. “Wemust begin a national debate to examine the whole health care system, and together wemust put forward a bold and comprehensive solution that addresses our health care crisisnow. That’s what my 10 step plan does, and that’s why I’ll be traveling all across thestate next week – to put a strong local and national focus on the country’s health careproblem and the need for the Senate to enact real reform." At each of the 10 stops, Enzi will discuss the health care crisis in this country andhis 10 Steps proposal to ensure that all Americans have access to affordable, qualityhealth care. He will then open the meeting to questions specifically relating to the planfrom the audience, and will be available to media at the conclusion of each stop. Enzialso plans to keep a blog of the trip that will be posted daily on his Web site,enzi.senate.gov. “I want to invite anyone who is concerned about the state of health care inWyoming and the nation to come to one of my 10 Steps meetings,” Enzi said. “I’ll bebreaking down my plan to overhaul health care in America, which includes ten things wecan do right now to make health care more available and more affordable for just abouteveryone. Any one of the steps would increase the number of people covered and bringdown costs. I look forward to sharing my plan with Wyoming at the 10 Steps meetingsnext week.” Introduced last July, Enzi’s “10 Steps to Transform Health Care in America” bill,S. 1783, encompasses 10 comprehensive steps that Congress can take to reform healthcare, including market-based pooling and equalizing tax treatment of health insurance forall Americans.
