Alexander Statement on Obama Call for Increased U.S. Airport Screening for Ebola

NASHVILLE, October 6 – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), today released the following statement after President Obama announced the government will increase screening at U.S. airports of travelers coming from countries affected by the outbreak of Ebola:

"I said last week that our country should screen at all U.S. airports all passengers arriving from countries with the Ebola epidemic, and I am glad the president will now increase screening.”

He added: “My second recommendation last week was that the president immediately designate a single cabinet member to coordinate the response among all U.S. agencies involved and other countries who should be more involved.  These two steps are essential to accelerating our country's response to an extraordinary epidemic, and there will be more steps to come.”
