ENZI, SENATE LEADERS CALL FOR RESTORED AUTHORITY TO INVESTIGATE RAILROAD MEDICARE FRAUD


Washington D.C. – U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-WY, Ranking Member of theSenate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP Committee), today sentthe following letter to Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA),urging the Conference Committee on Labor, HHS, Education and Related Agencies toadopt key provisions of the Senate-passed Appropriations bill. These provisions wouldrestore the authority of the Railroad Retirement Board Office of Inspector General toconduct Railroad Medicare audits and investigations as part of the Conference Report forFiscal 2008 Labor and HHS appropriations. Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Chairman of the HELP Committee, Senator MaxBaucus (D-MT), Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and Senator ChuckGrassley (R-IA), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, joined Senator Enziin signing the letter.
