Whistleblowers

Whistleblowers play a critical role in helping Congress root out fraud, waste, and abuse in the federal government.

Your right to share information is protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution in accordance with applicable laws. As a public employee, you may also be protected by the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2012, Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989, the Inspector General Act of 1978, and the Privacy Act of 1974, among others. However, protections vary by industry as well as state and local laws. Therefore, it’s important to consult with an attorney to learn more about your legal rights.
