Harkin Applauds Senate Approval of NLRB Nominee

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, today applauded Senate approval of National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) nominee Lauren McGarity McFerran to serve as a Member of the NLRB.

“Today I am pleased the Senate took the important step of approving the nomination of Lauren McGarity McFerran to serve as a Member of the NLRB.” Harkin said. “The American economy is stronger because of the work the NLRB does on behalf of workers and business owners. The NLRB supports workers by promoting fair wages, benefits, and safe working conditions and benefits business owners by providing a fair venue for the neutral adjudication of employment disputes.

“Ms. McFerran is an extremely well-qualified nominee and has served the Senate HELP Committee with excellence and great professionalism as its Chief Labor Counsel and Deputy Staff Director,” Harkin added. “Ms. McFerran is an incredibly talented lawyer with deep knowledge of labor law. She is a person of sterling integrity and strong character. She will be a great asset to the Board and I know she will do an excellent job in this important position.”
