Murray: Republican Gimmick Does Nothing to Prevent Insurers From Discriminating Based on Gender and Age
(Washington, D.C.) — Today, Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee released the following statement in response to a new health care proposal from Republicans regarding protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
“This Republican gimmick does absolutely nothing to prevent insurers from discriminating against patients based on gender and age or stop President Trump’s health care sabotage from driving up costs. If Republicans are serious about protecting health care for millions of families, they should join Democrats to defend patient protections already in place and work with us on solutions that actually drive down costs for families and prevent health care discrimination based on age, gender, or pre-existing conditions instead of cheering President Trump’s efforts to undermine families’ health care, raise costs, and expand loopholes that give power back to insurance companies.”
