Ranking Member Cassidy Rebukes Use of HELP Committee Room for Divisive Rashida Tlaib Event

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released the following statement upon learning the Senate HELP Committee Room was used by Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for a “Nakba Day” event after the previous venue was canceled by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

“I wholeheartedly disapprove of the Majority permitting the use of the HELP Committee room for this divisive event,” said Dr. Cassidy “The Capitol Grounds should not be used as a pedestal to legitimize anti-Semitic bigotry.”

A committee spokesperson issued the following statement:

“The Ranking Member was unaware and not consulted in the Chair's decision to permit the use of the committee room for this event,” said a GOP HELP Committee Spokesman.
