Enzi: Don’t Cut Seniors’ Health Care to Pay for Costly New Entitlement Program

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) today urged his colleagues to support an amendment to the Reid health bill that would protect Medicare benefits for seniors and ensure that any savings in the Medicare program be used to shore up that insolvent program.

“We shouldn’t cut Medicare, which is going broke, to pay for a new entitlement program,” Enzi said. “We need Medicare reform, but those savings should only go to fix that program for seniors.

“I have grave concerns about what the Medicare cuts in the Reid bill would do to seniors and the doctors, nurses and other providers who treat them.
