Chair Cassidy Reacts to Supreme Court Decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released a statement following the Supreme Court ruling in Mahmoud v. Taylor. Cassidy previously led an amicus brief in this case supporting parents’ constitutional right to be notified of and able to opt their children out of a school’s teaching of radical gender ideology that violates their religious beliefs.

“Today’s ruling is a win for families. Students should not be forced to learn about gender and sexuality subject matter that violates their family’s religious beliefs,” said Dr. Cassidy. “As chair of the HELP Committee, I will continue to work with President Trump to protect parents’ religious freedom and their right to guide their children’s education.”
