WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today, Senator Edward M. Kennedy released the following statement on President Bush’s budget:
“When the President addressed the nation on Tuesday, we heard a lot of nice rhetoric, but the real test of the President’s commitment to progress is the budget he released today. The gap between the President’s words and deeds has grown by leaps and bounds each year as he fails to live up to his promises, instead leaving ordinary Americans behind. Budgets are moral documents, and sadly this one show’s an agenda that puts special interests above the interests of America’s families. It shortchanges our opportunities, it shortchanges our future, and it shortchanges our global competitiveness.”
