HELP Committee Chairman Internships

The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), chaired by Senator Cassidy (R-LA), offers an internship program for students and recent graduates interested in the legislative process and federal policymaking. The Committee has jurisdiction over issues including public health and biomedical research; food and drug safety; early childhood, K–12, and higher education; workforce development; labor and employment policy; workplace safety; and retirement and pension security. Applicants should indicate which policy areas interest them most.

HELP Committee internships are based in Washington, D.C., and provide interns with the opportunity to work closely with professional staff to support the Committee’s legislative and administrative functions. Responsibilities may include conducting policy and legislative research, assisting with hearing and markup preparation, attending committee hearings and briefings, drafting memos and summaries, and providing general administrative and operational support.

Chairman Cassidy asks that all interns be responsible and possess a mature, professional manner. Interns should take initiative and be well-organized and efficient.
